Motorcycle Safety A Serious Ordeal
As of yesterday, my 2006 Yamaha FZ6 is down for the count. Decided to take a ride with a group of friends and how do they say this, " I BITE THE PAVEMENT OR GRASS".
Most young folks climbing on to a bike never really think about the safety and percautions to take when riding a sportsbike and end up in a situation they never felt they'd be in and that was my case.
I crashed my FZ6 at somewhere between 40-45mph in a curve. Painful yes, did I fly in the process oh yeah and was I fine in the end result definetly but the pride hit pretty hard and some soar muscle in my leg and lowerback. I was one of the fortunate ones. Even though I had no helmet which would of been the smarter option I walked away to tell the story.
Never in my life would i've been or thought it would be me crashing but thats the missconception we all make in sometime or other, was it a good it happened? In some instance yes and I learned a life lesson along with it. Respect your bike and take it easy and if your smart wear a helmet. I had a helmet on order and decided not to wait even though I pulled out of it lucky as hell there always could of been that strong possibility of deathe, being crippled.
Whatever age you are, how ever experienced you are wear a helmet. You may think it looks goofy and stupid but your loved ones love you just the same. Like many parents they all have worries and doubts about there loved one riding a bike and it's purely normal and thank god cause no one love's you like your family and no one ever will.
I took a corner at a speed I should have slowed down a bit more, by the time I tried to downshift and brake it was to late and all I could hope for was a fast slide on the side down a hill. I was thrown from my bike after ground impact and thrown in the air 10-15 feet straight up. Since I had no helmet on I braced my arms and hands around my head and neck and landed flat on my back.
Will I quit riding,never but when I get back on a bike i'll dang sure remember what happened and i'll never forget how close I was to dang near ending my life quick.
Bikes are fun, there a experience but being safe and knowing what your nike is capable of is very important and respecting that power it has is a serious ordeal. I'll post before pix's and after pix's once the insurance adjuster does his thing.
